Guitarpenter's Dream is a collection of eleven original instrumental songs recorded by Alan at home over the last Winter and Spring, arranged mainly for two guitars and bass, and recorded to tape. The album not only captures the warmth of the melodies themselves with Alan's playing, but also an occasional crackle from the fireplace in the 1928 stone house where he lives and recorded this music.

Alan's albums, Silver Morning, and

Sittin' Out the Rain

are also available here on CD.

Please take some time and look around

Welcome to my website, and thank you for taking the time.

I I hope you are well and finding time to stop and listen to the music.

Music for me is one thread that has helped hold things together in a time when there seemed to be so much that is so uncertain in the world. It's difficult at times to figure out which way to put ones' feet, and to go in a direction that makes a difference and some sort of sense. Sometimes it feels like the best thing we could do would be to just stop everything and all sit down together and rethink just what what we think we're doing, and why...?.

I know we are capable of great things, more than we have imagined . Everywhere around I see people doing incredible things, that inspire me and leave me in awe.

And it's also obvious that we are capable of the most terrible failings. I know that every moment is a choice. We could spend a lot more time and energy focusing on what we all know is the right thing. It is truly a simple matter of choice.

If we take a look around, there are good works being done, mostly in the shadows, mostly behind the scenes, out of the spotlight. People do go about their tasks, feeding and caring for their' families, communities and neighbors, creating from the spark of devine inspiration, doing what they can to nurture and give back to the essence that sustains us all, The natural inclination of the flow of life...the universal spirit that moves the earth and stars and all of life.

I see in the younger people, a spirit and a spark that I felt when the world seemed brighter and I was maybe not so encumbered by the things that I seem to let bog me down when I don't take the effort to make the choice to look at the high road.

.In my own children I see a hope that, if they are a reflection of what the future might look like, then things just might be alright. We have all had a large dose of what we know doesn't work, and while their' task is huge, they seem to know some directions not to go in.

And so amidst the uncertainties of these times, war, poverty, dishonoring of a devine integrity, the greed and ignorance, of arrogance and self righteousness, and the letting go of an honorable and honest standard of ethics, there also seems to be a great blossoming of the spirit, people going about this life, performing works from their hearts and souls, expressing their gifts in many different ways, in many different languages.

I feel blessed to be among such people. I see and hear people making music that touches me deeply, and I feel glad to know that this spirit is alive and well. Regardless of what else might we see going on, there are great things too, and through it all, the continuous thread is music, music that I have been able to feel come through myself, and the music that I hear from people around me. Music that, in the midst of whatever might be going on at any particular time, is soothing and inspiring to the heart and soul.

My hope today still, is to continue to have the pleasure of being present to this music, to honor and strive to be in tune with it all as best one can hope to be.

Peace through music
